Ramped Summer Bonanza! August 1st - 5th

Four days of Ramped fun and shenanigans was promised, and four days of exactly that was achieved and ultimately smashed clean out of the water! A selection of pics from the weeks events are posted here.

Starting on a wet and overcast day in Gobowen on Monday 1st August the sheer determination of the locals to make the most of the ramps even in the treacherous wet conditions was more than impressive. Unfortunately it was so wet I didn't get my camera out, so pictures of this sodden event are scarce, but I am trying to track them down. Cheers to everyone who was persistent enough to make a day of this, it's people like you who keep this scene alive in the UK.

Tuesday 2nd August in Higher Heath (our second visit to this area) we were really pleased to see some of the old faces from our last visit, now sporting their own BMX's. The progression of the guys in this session from the previous time we met was evident and the pics certainly reflect it too.

Wednesday 3rd August was a re-visit to Shawbury and an impressive influx in BMX riders from the last time we were there. They also have an awesome dirt track here which is well worth a visit. There were so many cool different styles of riding going on here that it made judging the competition at the end of the day very difficult. There is a really good community of riders here who all feed off one another's creativity and style - it was a pleasure to experience it.

Thursday 4th August - We were so tired, I think I got sun stroke, and had no venue booked so we had a well earned rest day - although I think Martin ended up learning bush tukka skills from native Ostonians (is there no end to this mans skills?)

Friday 5th August in Llanymynech was the hottest and most beautiful day we had all week. The locals requested a very inventive layout of the ramps which used the spine quarters as the take off to a jump box, using the flat bank ramps as the landing. It worked very well and the pictures tell the storey of just how well the riders (and a couple of rogue youth workers) put it to use. We could not believe how many riders there were in Llanymynech and it ultimately lead to some quite interesting prize give-aways for weirdest trick and a banana skin prize dash and grab. Also a massive thank you to the guys who volunteered at the end to pack up the ramps - we really apreciated it.

Finally a massive thank you to all involved in organising and taking part and remember, we want to bring these ramps to you, so get onto your local representative, youth worker, councillor and find out how to book us out for more awesome days in the sun or under cover in your town halls if it's rainy.
